In anticipation of the GCDC’s 1984 Pride-adjacent dance, All Night Long, the organisation received media coverage in the LGBTQ magazine Xtra! The article, titled "Dance Dance Dance!" and written by John Allec, features a photo of GCDC organizer and founder Rob Stout and highlights how the GCDC had by that point raised $115,000 for the gay community. All Night Long generated an additional net profit of $6,873.26.
The article includes a profile of Rob and details his role as president, noting that the role requires supervising “several dozen committee members, a couple of hundred volunteers, and thousands of revellers eager to be entertained."
“At their best, the dances can be a memorable blend of the old and the new, the nostalgia-tinged dance hits of the last few months segueing into the more adventurous ones of the next, the old faces you forget mixing in with the new ones you never will. And after too many weeks of carefully homogenised bars, the variety of different 'terpsichorines' squeezed into one building can be a delight. Another member of the Gay Community Dance Committee told me why he enjoyed the work: 'It's just like putting on a party -- except everybody's willing to pay to get in!' To Bob and his fellow hosts, a big thank you for the good times -- and we'll see you next Saturday."
